At the 4th floor, you have a stunning view over the oldest park of Paris: Parc de la Tour Saint-Jacques.
From the lounge you see the Saint-Jacques tower and the Chatelet angel and also, on the island the Conciergerie and Sainte-Chapelle church and on the other bank the Montparnasse tower.
Building : the building has been built during the Second Empire (1852-1870) when the street was extended east of Le Louvre. It follows the strucutural Haussman rules.
Flat: the flat is the only one in the building to have kept most of its original ornaments: plain wood doors, heavy oak floor in the Hungarian style parquetry, marble chimneys (though no more functional), ceiling moulding. Of course, it has been later fitted with modern conveniences!
